Income Tax Department provides a permanent account number (PAN) to every taxpayer. PAN card is mandatory when you are doing financial transactions with many authorities. From opening bank accounts, applying for credit card, purchase/sale of property, jewellery (mandatory when transaction value exceeds 5 lakhs). Even when you make a cash deposit exceeding 50,000 then you need to provide a copy of your pan card. Failure to do so can bring in excessive TDS deductions.



Getting a PAN card is pretty much mandatory. The government has set up avenues for easy procurement of PAN card. These days it is as easy as filling and submitting a form and your PAN card will be delivered to your doorstep. Follow the steps carefully for new pan card apply

Follow these steps to easily apply for a new PAN card:

#1. To apply for PAN online you need to obtain a valid Digital Signature Certificate (DSC) from an authorized Certifying Authority (CA) in India. The system only accepts class II and III DSC. The DSC should have the name of the applicant/ Representative Assessee to be mentioned in the application form.

#2. Check the information you have filled. Click the submit button once you are satisfied with your application. Once submitted the system will give you an option to re-check the form and rectify your errors. If there are errors, correct them and re-submit the form.

#3. After the submission, the system will display all the data filled by the applicant. The applicant still has the window to make edits to it. If the applicant confirms the form the system displays a unique 15-digit number as an acknowledgement. The applicant should print this number for safe keeping.

#4. The system would ask you to upload your scanned photograph, signatures and proof of identity/proof of address. The scanned images should fulfil the specifications. Your scanned photograph and signature should be in colour and scanned in 200 DPI. The size of the photograph is restricted to 20 KB and the signature is restricted to 10 KB. Your supporting documents should be scanned in black and white with 200 DPI and should be restricted to a size of 300 KB/page.

#5. After submitting the documents, you need to pay the application fee. This payment can only be done online via Credit/Debit Card or Net banking facility. If you need physical PAN card at an address in India, you need to pay INR 101 and if you want the e-PAN card then you need to pay INR 66 only.
