1. How the LCD display module works

2. The working principle of OLED screen
Next, let’s look at OLED screens. OLED display modules are called self-luminous diodes. The feature of this screen is that it can emit light without the need for backlighting. Let’s look at the picture. There are pictures showing that its structure is very simple, with only positive and negative circuits and light-emitting diodes.
1. OLED displays consume less power than LCD displays
The OLED display module is composed of light-emitting diodes, which can emit light. Generally speaking, it will be bright when you power it on. The more power it is connected to, the brighter it will be. So it can be known that we can adjust the brightness by changing the voltage and powering on. And because there is no backlight layer, the small OLED display can emit light with each pixel individually, which has a good feature-power saving, so it has a function, that is, the screen reminder.
The screen reminder is the function of displaying messages and time by controlling a single pixel. So why can’t LCD screens do it? Because it consumes electricity. Since the LCD display has a backlight layer, the entire screen needs to emit light, while the OLED screen can emit light with a single pixel, which will greatly reduce power consumption. Therefore, OLED display modules have great advantages in terms of power consumption.
2. OLED display has higher contrast ratio than LCD display
The value of contrast must have been seen by some of my friends. It is an indispensable value in PS. What is the use of it? Here is a very simple sentence to summarize, the higher the contrast, the more vivid the color. Let’s look at a picture below. On the left is Honor 30 Pro (OLED display), and on the right is Honor 9X (LCD screen). If you look closely, you can see that the cat on the left is a bit brighter than the cat on the right. This is because OLED screens can self-illuminate thanks to light-emitting diodes, so the display contrast will be extremely high.
Earlier we said that one part of the LCD screen is a polarizer (including horizontal polarizer and vertical polarizer). When the screen displays black, there will be a fatal flaw, that is, the polarizer cannot be completely closed, resulting in Some white light will leak out, resulting in impure black display. 3. There is no light leakage problem on the OLED display modules
Since the LCD screen has a backlight layer, when it is put into a mobile phone, some gaps will inevitably appear. This situation is called light leakage. However, OLED screens do not have this problem due to the absence of a backlight layer. We can also look at the above picture. There will be some light leakage at the edge of the LCD screen on the right, which is a normal phenomenon of LCD screens.
