There are two methods for New Extender Setup: using an Ethernet cable and through WiFi connection. Both methods require you to access www.mywifiext.net smart wizard.

Important Note: If you are setting up Netgear Extender on Windows device, use mywifiext.com web address for accessing the default login page. On the other hand, make use of mywifiext.net local if you want to install the extender on Mac OS devices like iPhone, iPad, Mac, etc.

1.Use an Ethernet Cable

To connect the extender manually, there is a need to an Ethernet cable which allows you to make a proper wired connection between computer and extender. Once you have connected the range extender to computer, access the web-user interface using 192.168.1.250 IP address.

It is called as the default IP address meant to open the mywifiext login page. Enter the username and password to proceed further . If you don’t have an account, ensure to create the new one. Select the WiFi network you want to extend and click Continue button.

Enter the password and hit continue button. Change the security settings according to your preferences and click continue.

Be sure to keep the extender in an airy place and away from interface-creating devices such as microwave ovens, cordless phones, mirrors, concrete walls, radios, glasses, refrigrators and related devices. That’s it your New Extender Setup has been completed.

It is recommended to change the mywifiext password and other credenitals immediately after setting up your WiFi range extender. Doing so will make your new, extended WiFi network more secure. Thus, no one else can enter your network without your permission.

2.Through a WiFi Connection

If you want to save yourself from the hassle of messy wires or cables, go with the wireless option for Netgear Extender Setup. First and foremost, connect the extender to a wall socket using power adapter. Next, turn on the PC or laptop as per your convenience.

Connect it to a reliable WiFi network. It’s recommended not to use neighboring networks as it can ruin the whole Netgear WiFi range extender setup process if they weak signal strength.

Go to the login page either by using mywifiext of 192.168.1.250 IP address. Now, click on new extender setup button. Create an account using an email and password. Once done, log in to your account.

Choose the network to extend and either the password. Thus, you can easily set up your Netgear range extender. If mywifiext.net not working, check the web browser version you are using. If you are running an old version of web browser, update it to the latest one.
