Studio369 raises $5M for Web3 multiplayer mech MMO MetalCore

Studio369 raised $5 million in funding to develop MetalCore, an open world player-versus-player mech combat game that combines the engagement of high-quality traditional gaming with true asset ownership via Web3.

In the works for about three years, MetalCore recently had an invite-only closed beta test and it is expected to hit an open beta test within a few months. It’s coming from a team of creatives from the likes of LucasFilm, Disney, Activision, and others.

Studio369 CEO Matt Candler said in a statement, “We are excited to see that some of the most prominent companies and influencers in gaming continue to share and support our vision of MetalCore. The additional funding will help us hone and sharpen MetalCore even further to deliver the most fun, engaging, and awesome experience.”

The funding for the latest round came from investors such as Bitkraft Ventures, Delphi Digital, Sanctor Capital, and SpartanGroup. Other investors included King River Digital Assets, Arrington Capital, Amber, Auros, Zeneca, Grail, Spirit Dao, LiquidX, Aggero, FatCats, Sonic Boom Ventures, Rarestone, Cypher Capital, Cogitant Ventures, EllioTrades, and Citizen Capital.

Studio369 is launching a closed beta for MetalCore.

The newly acquired funds will be allocated to the ongoing development of MetalCore. One highlight coming is a dynamic mission system driven by AI. This system will generate unique assignments, objectives, and tasks, ensuring infinite replayability and a diverse array of engaging scenarios for players.

MetalCore, an open-world combined arms game set in massive battlefields, has factions that vie for territorial conquest. The game enables players to craft and trade vehicles and gear, recruit pilots, develop land, and engage in various activities as they strive for planetary domination.

You can play on foot or in a mech in MetalCore.

The MMO challenges players to face AI-enhanced enemies both on foot and while piloting combat vehicles and giant mechs. The customizable load-outs and unique variants ensure hours of gameplay. MetalCore introduces a scanning system, allowing players to obtain Vehicle Blueprints from fallen foes, create new weapons and vehicles, convert them to Web3 assets, and trade them on the marketplace.

MetalCore is developed by Studio369, a team of industry veterans with over a decade of experience at gaming giants like Activision, Lucasfilm, Midway, and Phosphor. The team’s expertise encompasses iconic games and franchises such as Mechwarrior 2, Gears of War, Mortal Kombat, Silent Hill, Killer Instinct, Front Mission, LOTR Return to Moria, World of Mechs VR, and more.

Previously, MetalCore raised $15 million in late 2021. The game has already been recognized, winning the GAM3 2022 Award for Best Shooter Game.
